The Swim is a wonderful opportunity for experienced swimmers to
swim about one mile (72 lengths of a standard 25 yard pool) across the
Hudson River while raising funds to benefit the non-profit volunteer
organization River Pool at Beacon.
We will start at The Newburgh waterfront and finish at the Beacon waterfront..
We will have a permit from the US Coast Guard to cross the river
that day. The Coast Guard Auxiliary along with other boats and
kayakers will be on hand to escort and help keep swimmers safe.
Swimmers are urged to bring kayaker escorts if possible. Kayakers volunteering to escort during the swim, please register in advance online by clicking on the 'Register' button.
Kayakers are requested to attend a one hour safety class at the Beacon Institute (199 Main St. Beacon). The date is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22nd at 7pm Check-in for
kayakers will be at the Beacon waterfront across from the Beacon train
station on Saturday, July 25 from 7:45am - 8:45am, followed by the
crossing over to Newburgh and an in-water safety demonstration.
Swimmers will cross the river from 10:30am until about 12:00pm.
Party afterwards at the Beacon Waterfront!
All swimmers and kayakers should regularly check the swim status on the web site, www.riverpool.org for updates, especially the day before the swim.

* Practice and train for the swim now!
* The water temperature is expected to be between 75 and 80 degrees, so it should be a pleasant crossing.
* We will swim from the shores of Newburgh off the docks of Torches restaurant. We will provide food and water on the Beacon side.
* If you are coming from NYC there is a Hudson line train leaving Grand Central Station arriving at 8:05am in Beacon.
* If you have friends and family dropping you off--they can watch the splash in and then drive across the bridge to Beacon to watch you come out of the water.
* Don't forget to bring a towel!
* Pledge money can be sent in any of three ways:
1. On Line – When you register on our website a donation page
will be set up in your name. Sponsors can go to your page at any time
to make a donation using a credit card.

Beacon and indicating the sponsored swimmer's name can be mailed to

The River Pool is at a very exciting stage – We are a 501c3 tax exempt organization, have federal and state permits in place, and the prototype floating pool has been constructed and will be open to the public again this summer. Our collected dollars are making a difference. Thanks for your dedication!
